Lithograph by Henri Rivière Au Vent de Noroît - The Old Ones

This lithograph “Au Vent de Noroît - Les Vieux” is signed by Henri Rivière and has a red stamp in the bottom left corner. The work is authentic and old. Regarding its condition, there are vertical folding marks on the left, small stains in places, and a size difference between the top and bottom. There are small stains on the litho. The lithograph has very fresh colours; once framed, most of the defects will be less visible. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved to soft-ground etching, specifically aquatint, in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886 at the shadow theatre in the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with innovative coloured backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, making a mark in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours).
