Ragnar Alyre (1894–1975) was a Swedish painter known for his transition from dark, romantic early works to more realistic northern landscapes later in life. Trained in Germany and France, he initially focused on marine scenes and portraits characterized by rich, moody tones. From the 1940s onward, his art became more naturalistic, depicting the landscapes of northern Sweden. His paintings are represented in several major Swedish museums, including the Nationalmuseum, Moderna Museet, and Norrköpings Konstmuseum. Alyre’s work reflects the evolution of 20th-century Swedish art from romanticism to realism. Collector’s Note. All artworks in our collection are vintage or second-hand.
