Large vase Accolay, France, 1960s

Large vase with double handles created by the Accolay collective, a workshop founded by four former students of Alexandre Kostanda and recognised as one of the key places of post-war French ceramics. Its elongated silhouette is accentuated by two lateral ear handles and a decoration of horizontal grooves achieved through turning. The whole is covered in a glaze of nuanced shades of blue. With its height of 42 cm, this monumental vase has a strong sculptural presence and can be used as a vase or decorative object. Painted signature under the base. France, circa 1960.
