Handheld pewter candlestick

Tin (or silver-plated) hand candlestick, equipped with a curved handle in a scroll design for easy transport. The central binet, adorned with a beaded frieze, rests on a wide circular base with a gadrooned edge designed to catch the wax. A classic model of the "bedside candlestick" or "chamber candlestick" type, inspired by forms in use from the 18th to the 19th century.
