"Vase 'Grazia' by Stig Lindberg Ceramic and silver Gustavsberg Sweden 1960"

Stoneware vase with applied silver decoration, 1950s. Height 8.6" (22cm) Width 2.7" (7cm) Signed I.L.A. "Gustavsberg (anchor) Grazia 217 Made in Sweden". The vase is covered with a matte white glaze and features intricate raised patterns painted in silver. Stig Lindberg (1916-1982) is one of the most famous Scandinavian designers of the post-war era. He joined the Gustavsberg Studio in 1937, trained by Willhelm Kåge. He was appointed Kåge's successor in 1949 and became the artistic director of Gustavsberg. His work has been exhibited at the Swedish National Museum and has won numerous awards, including the gold medal and the Grand Prix at the Milan Triennale. His designs from the 1950s and 1960s (like this piece from 1967) are the most sought after.
