A French fold-over card table in the Louis XV style, made around 1850–1870. It has been professionally restored and is ready to use. The top is veneered in flame mahogany, book-matched so the dark figure spreads out from the centre like wings. Underneath is a shaped, moulded apron and four long cabriole legs ending in small carved hoof feet. The top turns on a pivot and opens out onto a round red baize playing surface edged with gold braid, held by brass hinges at the corners. Turning the top reveals a storage well inside the frame, suitable for cards, games, or other items. Closed, it serves as a console table; open, it is suitable for cards, chess, or a small dinner for two. Condition: professionally restored, with some visible wear. The back edges of both leaves have scratches and small dents around the catches. The baize has a small hole and some light wear at the centre join, and the braid is slightly worn in places. There are a few tiny chips on one leg. All of this is shown in the photos. Dimensions: Closed: H 74 cm, W 83 cm, D 41 cm. Open: W 83 cm, D approx. 82 cm. Materials: mahogany, flame mahogany veneer, baize, brass hinges. Origin: France, circa 1850–1870.
