Buffet / Richly carved walnut cabinet, in Renaissance style, dating from the late 19th century. This spectacular piece of furniture is distinguished by its particularly abundant and finely executed ornamentation. The cornice, which overhangs significantly, is highlighted with geometric and denticulated friezes, resting on a sculpted entablature adorned with masks, scrolls, and highly expressive leafy motifs. The upper section opens with two doors featuring deeply carved panels, centred with relief medallions depicting antique profiles, surrounded by vegetal decorations and symbolic motifs. The uprights are animated with sculpted terms and figures, adding relief and theatricality to the whole. The lower section continues this decorative richness with panels carved with masks, trophies, and floral compositions, framed by pilasters adorned with figures in high relief. The entire piece rests on a moulded base with repetitive motifs, supported by massive feet with geometric decoration. The quality of the carving, the depth of the reliefs, and the overall harmony testify to remarkable cabinet-making, in the spirit of the highly prized neo-Renaissance productions of the 19th century. Period: late 19th century. Style: Renaissance. Material: solid walnut. Condition: very good overall condition, beautiful original patina, slight signs of use. Dimensions: h 180 X 111 X 58. A piece of great presence, ideal for a dining room or a characterful interior, a true centrepiece of decoration.
