Stunning and sophisticated vintage Op Art minimalist matte white bisque vase was created by the porcelain maker Kaiser of West Germany, founded in 1872 by August Alboth. The artist signature belongs to the designer Manfred Frey, whose objects featured mid-century modern, op art styles in bold relief. The inside glaze is gloss white. The blue maker's mark appears on the underside and the vase is signed M. Frey with the numbers 666/3. It is in good condition. Please look closely at all photos. Background information on Manfred Frey: Mr. Frey was born in Bamberg, Germany on October 22, 1940. At the age of 15 in 1955, Manfred Frey begun an apprenticeship as a mould maker at the Porcelain manufacture Alboth + Kaiser in Hausen. He moved to Switzerland at 18 to continue his career. 1963 Mr. Frey returns to Germany from Switzerland and in 1970 was appointed as chief designer at Kaiser. Frey's designs took shape and form and began to receive notice for their sophistication. He retired in 2008 where he established a private atelier (workshop) where he continues to create, design and produce gorgeous and sophisticated works of art in bisque porcelain.
