Hello I am offering a very colorful oil on cardboard in perfect condition signed Jehann BERJONNEAU (1890-1966) representing an unknown bridge over one of the 3 main canals winding through the city of Venice. We notice in this work a very beautiful harmony of colors subtly arranged between the brightness of the stone facades, a bridge and the reflections in the water. With its 435 bridges connecting 121 islands, whether ancient, modern, or without parapet, the Venetian bridges contribute to the exceptional and romantic identity of VENICE ("the Rialto Bridge", "The Constitution Bridge", also known as "Calatrava Bridge", "The Liberty Bridge" etc). VENICE has always inspired great artists. In poetry, "the Bridge of Sighs" is often associated with the melancholy and fragile beauty of VENICE. Alfred de MUSSET, in his poem "VENICE", describes a silent and mysterious city with "its bridges and streets, its gloomy statues and its moving gulf that trembles in the wind". This work was cleaned, then a WINSOR and NEWTON brand anti-UV satin varnish was applied by a professional. A recent and modern frame has been resized and added, it is particularly robust and guaranteed to last over time (glued, nailed and stapled).
