Pair of "Basket" armchairs by Roberto Mango

Roberto Mango designer, attributed to. Pair of "Basket" armchairs with a conical rattan seat embedded in a black lacquered tubular steel structure. Excellent condition of the wicker with no repairs. Legs to be repainted or left as is. Italian work completed in the 1950s. Dimensions: H 71 cm (27.96 in) X W 84 cm (33.08 in) X D 74 cm (29.14 in) Roberto MANGO (1920-2003) was an Italian designer and architect, also a professor at the University of Naples from 1958. He founded the Neapolitan design school which contributed to changing the thinking on industrial design in the 1960s-1970s. He also collaborated with several architecture and design magazines such as Domus, and Interiors, of which he became co-editor in New York.
