18th Century Style Painting After Greuze – Stamped Atelier Schitter – Rococo Frame. 📝 Body of the announcement. Description: For sale, a superb charming painting representing "The Young Girl with the Ball of Wool" (or The Wool Winder), after the original work by Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1759) held at the Frick Collection in New York. This is a high-quality artisanal art reproduction made in the second half of the 20th century by the renowned Atelier René Schitter (Dossenheim-sur-Zinsel), an Alsatian manufacturer known for its copies of master paintings intended for high decoration. Technical characteristics: Support: Genuine linen canvas stretched on its original solid wood frame. Markings: Entirely original back with the official stamp of the Atelier Schitter and the regulatory mention "REPRODUCTION" stamped into the wood. Frame: Magnificent period frame in Rococo / Louis XV style made of gilded stucco. Very pronounced shell and scroll decorations, offering exceptional relief. Condition: The canvas is in very good cosmetic condition, with beautiful colours and a superb patina of an antique appearance. The frame has some missing pieces and chips of stucco from use at the corners (visible in the photos), which enhances its authenticity and charm "in its original state." Ideal for: Antique dealers, interior decorators, lovers of 18th-century style, or for furnishing charming homes / character lodgings. Very strong visual and decorative potential in its current state or after restoration.
