Napolitan marquetry round table, gilded, Italy, 19th century

The support structure is made with a central trunk serving as a baluster, assembled with smaller branches; entirely gilded. The top is made of commesso marble: different types of stone are used to create a central vase with flowers, on which a dove rests. All around, a border within which leafy scrolls and plant motifs are depicted; the perimeter of the top is defined by a Greek frieze with alternating triangles.
