Abstract architectural painting

Large architectural painting, presumably Italian, dating from circa 1970–1980. The work depicts a monumental cityscape, possibly in Rome, featuring classical buildings, columns, staircases and sculptural elements. The composition is rendered in an expressive painting style with bold brushstrokes and a colour palette of white, blue, ochre and black. Oil on canvas, signed lower left and bearing a handwritten inscription on the reverse which presumably refers to the Campidoglio in Rome. The painting is set in a narrow gold-coloured frame.
