Silver Plated Champagne Bucket – Italian Empire Style Wine Cooler

A handsome Italian silver-plated Champagne bucket with a strong Empire-style silhouette. The generously rounded body is beautifully ribbed, finished with a broad polished rim, elegant loop handles and a raised pedestal base. Empire design grew from the Neoclassical style of Napoleon’s era, drawing heavily on the grandeur and symmetry of ancient Rome and Egypt, and the style also became popular across Italy. This is a particularly lovely example of the style, with its restrained decoration and wonderful reflective silver surface. A substantial and very usable piece for chilling Champagne or wine, while also making a beautiful statement on a bar, dining table or drinks trolley. It has had light use, with natural age-related marks and patina to the silver plating, especially inside, giving it a lovely old character. There is a very slight lip/raised area to the rim, but it does not affect its function or take away from its appearance. A beautiful collector’s piece with plenty of presence.
