It was created in 1968 by Eduardo Saidi Ting Ting, who comes from the Makua ethnic group in the southeast of Tanzania, which is significant for his work. In his paintings, Tinga Tinga draws inspiration from his childhood and the natural environment in which he grew up. He paints on hardboard and uses shimmering enamels to depict bicycles. His successors replaced the board with canvas, and the painting style became more dynamic. Complex compositions emerged in the background. Most often savannah and the landscape of Kilimanjaro. The filling of the image includes many decorative elements - ornaments, intertwined branches, geometric patterns that fill the entire background. The catalogue of themes has also expanded, with an increasing number of genre scenes, market motifs, ghosts, and satirical performances. The colour palette has also been enriched - particularly with bright colours. Tinga Tinga paintings can be found in many museums and collections. Hundreds of exhibitions have been organised around the world. The most popular paintings are found in Germany, Switzerland, and Japan. Work in its original vintage condition.
