Pair of litre cups from the Second Empire period with imperial decoration of Napoleon I.

Elegant and rare pair of litron cups in French porcelain accompanied by their original saucers, made around 1855-1870, in the style of the First Empire. Each cup is richly decorated in gold with an imperial N inscribed within a laurel crown, surrounded by imperial bees and a scattering of stars. The finely moulded handles, the quality of the gilding, and the balance of proportions testify to careful production aimed at a refined clientele of the Second Empire. The saucers bear a discreet red stamp "M. IMP.", while the cups are unmarked, a configuration found in certain French productions from the mid-19th century. This pair constitutes a remarkable testament to the revival of the Empire style under Napoleon III and will appeal to both tableware enthusiasts and collectors of Napoleonic memorabilia.
