Vase or jug in a conical shape with one handle, made of grey glazed ceramic with a geometric decoration in green, orange, yellow, and blue. Marked and numbered under the base, and bears the centenary commemorative medallion. Germany, circa 1950-60. This small, slender, and graphic vase embodies the post-war modernist aesthetic. It captivates with its clean and sculptural lines, and its colourful geometric decoration typical of the 1950s. The small squares of bright colours evoke the famous colourful paintings of Piet Mondrian. Period: 1950s-60s. Technique: Glazed ceramic. Dimensions: Height 21.5 cm - Base width 8 cm. Founded in 1859 by Peter Fohr, Fohr Keramik was established in Höhr-Grenzhausen, in the Westerwald, the "land of potters." Initially specialised in utilitarian objects, production shifted towards decorative items from 1934, innovating in ornamental ceramics. From 1953, Fohr collaborated with designers such as Heinz Siery, then Walter Grau and Walter Weiland, to modernise and stylise their pieces. The production remained family-run and traditional until its closure in 2008, after nearly 150 years of activity.
