Daybed by Poul Volther

This rare daybed, designed by Poul Volther for FDB Mobler in Denmark during the 1960s, has been reupholstered by a professional upholsterer with a valuable light grey fabric by Bruder fabrics, finished with a soft cognac leather cushion roll held in place on the mattress with a leather strap. The upholstery has a zipper on the underside, so the cover can be removed for dry cleaning. The foam mattress is also new and very clean. The simple lines, the joinery on the corners, and the beautiful warm solid oak used on the frame are details that make this a rare, standout piece. The wood was treated with natural linseed oil. The beech slats that were once painted yellow were sanded, stained in light oak, and varnished in our workshop. One broken slat was glued back together. In very good, restored and reupholstered condition.
