Day bed by Poul Volther

This rare daybed, designed by Poul Volther for FDB Mobler in Denmark in the 1960s, has been upholstered by a professional upholsterer with a precious light grey fabric from Bruder fabrics, complemented by a cognac leather cushion roll secured on the mattress with a leather strap. The upholstery features a zipper on the underside, allowing the cover to be removed for dry cleaning. The foam mattress is also new and very clean. The simple lines, corner joinery, and the beautiful warm solid oak used for the frame are details that make this piece a rare and remarkable object. The wood has been treated with natural linseed oil. The beech slats, which were once painted yellow, have been sanded, stained in light oak, and varnished in our workshop. A broken slat has been re-glued. In very good condition, restored and upholstered.
