Succession LACOSTE: armchair by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1950)

This table comes from the prestigious Lacoste estate, along with half a dozen pieces of furniture that I am selling at the same time. This couple of intellectuals furnished their home at La Boutique Danois (Avenue de Friedland, on the Champs Elysées) in the 1960s with exceptional Scandinavian furniture in which they lived their entire lives. Armchair signed by Peter Hvdit & Orla Molgaard-Nielsen, from 1950. Original woven cord! Always excellence in the details, both in the sweeping curve of the wide solid teak armrests and in the beautiful and very subtle counter-curve of the backrest, assembled by a system of visible mortises that is both ingenious and aesthetic. Functionality also meets aesthetics in the front support of the armrests, which "pierces" the seat and fits into the stretcher beneath the seat, forming a martial and impeccable angle. Like all Lacoste furniture, it has been used. There are signs of wear and the woven cord is slightly stretched - however, it is original, which is quite rare for these chairs! And it adds real value as it remains in good overall condition and does not hinder the seating. L: 61 cm. D: 50 cm. H: 78 cm. Seat height: 43 cm. My prices are firm, thank you.
