Rare: adorable mahogany boat furniture (circa 1900). Very good condition.

Rare and very beautiful early 20th-century boat furniture, made of mahogany and brass fittings. It comes from a genuine boat, that of the grandfather of the last owner. It can serve as an entrance piece, a supplementary bookshelf, or a small display table in a living room. Its dimensions and quality of craftsmanship make it a charming little piece that can easily fit anywhere. It opens with a lower flap equipped with its rounded brass handle and its brass "click" that produces a pleasant sound upon closing. However, the true originality lies in the folding top, located in the centre of the piece. Held by a brass hook on the side, it slowly drops down thanks to its internal brass guides and, once opened, offers a lovely desk space ideal for displaying objects, or even papers, keys, etc. When closed, the hook on the side automatically secures the top in the closed position – as on a boat, one needs compact and practical furniture! Above, two rows of small shelves and a beautiful original mirror conceal a door hiding two other original removable shelves. The lock of this glass door is stamped EMERY, named after a manufacturer from St Dizier, established there since the late 19th century, but who also sold his pieces in Faubourg, Paris. Above, three rounded openings allow for the placement of bottles of various sizes, with the bottoms of the bottles disappearing inside the piece. However, the owner had added a small board inside to close off the spaces and place flower pots. It can easily be removed. There are some signs of wear and minor play here and there, but it is in superb condition, functional and ready for use (the side plinths still have the holes intended for screwing the piece into the boat).
