Exquisite basket chair made around 1820 in France, in the style and period of Napoleon III, crafted from carved and gilded wood. The backrest features a sinuous movement following the basket model and is crowned with an exceptionally high-quality floral pediment. A piece with a strong aesthetic presence, suitable for any space and ambiance, even as a contrast in contemporary decor. The basket chair is a type of seat with an oval base, whose backrest gently curves forward and downward to form the armrests. The model appeared in France in the 18th century and remains a symbol of elegance. The seat, backrest, and armrests have been recently reupholstered with an original set of two fabrics from the prestigious brand Pierre Frey, established in 1935 in Paris. The sides of the backrest are in a lightly saturated faux uni yellow, and prominently feature an exquisite fabric with an ecru background and floral embroidery. The colour of the fabric adds a modern and elegant touch that balances the classic appearance of the structure.
