Exceptional antique Spanish chest made of solid wood, entirely hand-carved. A rare named piece bearing the engraved inscription: “Soy de Jerónimo Vázquez” — “I belong to Jerónimo Vázquez”. The front features two remarkably fine high-relief carved fish, framing an original wrought iron lock. The cursive inscription engraved directly into the wood attests to exceptional craftsmanship. Entirely handmade construction, dovetail assembly, monoxyle feet carved from solid wood, original wrought iron hinges. A piece of irrefutable authenticity. Defects to note: Signs of old and inactive woodworm, witnesses to the age of the piece. Slight natural wood cracks due to time. Wear at the corners consistent with the period. These imperfections are part of the authentic patina and do not detract from the solidity or exceptional character of the piece. An ideal collector's item for a cabinet of curiosities, a characterful living room, or an office. Dimensions: L 70 cm — D 38 cm — H 32 cm. Origin: Spain. Period: 17th-18th century. Material: Carved solid wood, wrought iron. Condition: Generally good condition, authentic old patina.
