Vintage Mid-Century Swedish Modern Teak Frisco Coffee Table by F. Ohlsson

This elegant Frisco coffee table was designed by Folke Ohlsson for the Swedish manufacturer Tingströms during the 1960s and is a refined example of Swedish MCM design. Crafted from high-quality teak, the piece is distinguished by its minimalist yet dynamic form, whose most distinctive feature is the slightly raised edges of the tabletop, giving it a unique, almost sculptural profile. The structure rests on slender, tapering legs, stabilised by crossbars, emphasising the overall design's visual lightness. Combining functionality with the natural beauty of the teak grain, this table has become an icon, produced by renowned manufacturers such as Tingströms and Dux. It is one of a number of variants of this model, which came in various shapes and sizes. However, all were characterised by a raised edge. Unfortunately, the signature has not survived. Folke Ohlsson was born and raised in Sweden. In 1953, he moved to the United States and founded Dux Incorporated, which was a huge success. The designs of Ohlsson's armchairs and sofas are appreciated for their graceful combination of traditional details and modernist simplicity. Accordingly, his work has brought many recognitions and awards, including the best design at the 1964 Milan Triennale exhibition, as well as the Royal Order of the Vasa in Sweden, awarded by King Gustav VI Adolf. The table is in original vintage condition. It has minor signs of age, circular impressions, and a natural patina.
