Portrait Art Deco

Very beautiful large portrait dated 1935 and signed by the uruguayan artist martha caubios. A student at the académie julian, she later settled in the south-west of france. Presented as a bust, this elegant young woman puts her big blue eyes on the viewer. Superb pastel color palette contrasting with the matte black of the clothes and fireplace frame. The workmanship offers a very vibrant rendering of the flesh in the light, especially at the neck and face. Very chic, from beret to jabot through jewelry, we are under the spell of this composition witness of an era and which would however fit into any interior even contemporary. Several annotations appear at the back of the canvas, testifying in particular to his exhibition in paris. The canvas is in good condition, some wear and therefore gaps on the perimeter visible in photos. Also note a small recess barely visible in the beige background at the top left (see photo also).
