"The Spider" Cast Iron Candlesticks • Dansk Designs • 1962

The Spider, originally called the Tiny Taper, was designed by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk Designs in 1962. It is a cast iron candle holder for up to 12 tiny tapers, with a rough brown-black finish. With its two-tiered supports, it resembles a spider - which is why it is commonly called the Spider. The "feet" of the base are covered with smooth black enamel pads to prevent scratching the furniture on which it is placed. Model number: 1424 / 1724. Designer: Jens Harald Quistgaard.
