A glass fruit bowl by the Belgian manufacturer Val Saint Lambert, produced in the 1950s, is a testament to the late Art Deco movement with clear references to mid-century modernist trends. The vessel, made of glass in a deep amber colour, attracts attention with its high transparency and contrast of textures. The raised parts of the bowl are polished to an intense shine, creating light reflections, while the recessed, matte areas have a rough, satin surface. The whole is supported on three distinctly geometric, short legs, smoothly integrated into the sculptural form of the bowl. The radical, radiant arrangement of vertical ribs enhances the architectural character of the design and demonstrates the craftsmanship of hand-formed glass typical of Val Saint Lambert. The bowl is in very good vintage condition – no visible cracks or chips, minimal signs of use appropriate for its age. No signs of restoration.
