Covered sugar bowl in glazed stoneware signed Denbac, with a flamed decoration blending shades of midnight blue, bronze, tobacco brown, and slightly iridescent highlights. The swollen shape highlighted by reliefs at the base, the small pierced handles, and the domed lid create a very sculptural silhouette, characteristic of Denbac's productions from the interwar period and the 1940s-1950s. The variations in glaze and firing effects give each side different nuances. Handwritten signature “Denbac” under the base with model number 395. The Denbac factory, founded in Vierzon by René Denert and René Balichon, is known for its decorative stoneware with flamed and satin glazes, straddling late Art Deco and Japanese inspiration. In excellent vintage condition, shiny (see photos). Height without lid 9 cm, height with lid 11.5 cm, diameter at widest point 9.5 cm. This Denbac captures the light like a small utilitarian sculpture, between workshop stoneware and timeless decorative object.
