Dish, bowl, ashtray or pocket tray by Danish ceramist Jørgen Mogensen. Stoneware with earthy enamels and geometric relief. Hand signed and hallmarked by the maker: Royal Copenhagen. Dimensions: 15x15x4cm. Weight: 1,050 kg. This small stoneware dish with an abstract pattern was designed by jørgen mogensen for royal copenhagen. As typical of Mogenson, this is a heavy, sturdy stoneware. A fine example of the mid-century modern movement. In very good vintage condition, no chips or cracks. Some normal cracks in the thick "sung" glazing. The name of the glazing refers to the "Sung dynasty" in China (960-1279). Signed on the base 'jm' and the royal copenhagen denmark logo with the three waves for royal copenhagen and the model number 21872. About the designer: jørgen mogensen, danish potter (1927 - ). Some consider Mogensen to be one of the most important Danish potters and sculptors of the 20th century.
