Here is a beautiful duo of cups with a very original shape, conical and ribbed! These pieces are made of Puisaye stoneware with a lovely glaze blending soft and cosy tones: beige, caramel, and chocolate, materials and colours typical of the 1970s. A very fine artisanal work of turning as well as glazing. These pieces are not signed, but one can recognise at first glance the distinctive glazing work of Jean-Pierre Prud’homme. He did not sign all his pieces, especially when they were part of a larger service, but I have had identical cups in the past and I have no doubt about the authorship. Jean-Pierre Prud’homme founded a handmade pottery workshop with his wife in 1971 in Monnaie, working with clay from Nièvre (Puisaye stoneware). This workshop still exists today, run by his son Benoît, who took over in the 1990s-2000s. These cups date from the 1970s and are in good condition: no cracks or chips, just a small abrasion on the glaze on the handle of each cup, barely visible and absolutely not bothersome for use or the sturdiness of these cups. They measure 9 cm in diameter at the base and 8.5 cm in height. If you love Puisaye stoneware or the work of Jean-Pierre Prud’homme, feel free to visit my shop here, where I offer many other pieces from this potter.
