The icon of Danish Mid-Century Modern design: the original Model 31 executive chair. It was designed by Kai Kristiansen for the Danish manufacturer Schou Andersen Møbelfabrik in 1957 and is one of the most recognisable pieces of furniture from the Scandinavian modernism of the 1950s. This chair is a perfect example of the harmony between form, function, and craftsmanship – an object that not only impresses aesthetically but also tells the story of Danish design. This extraordinary, visually light, yet strong chair with a timeless character is one of the most important designs of the golden age of design. Crafted from teak, it features a beautifully contoured structure with a distinctive, sloped backrest and dynamically curved armrests that seamlessly connect to the rear legs. This elegant design not only makes the chair exceptionally comfortable but also lends it a lightness and architectural refinement. The seat and backrest are upholstered in high-quality black vinyl. The black contrasts with the warm, natural grain of the wood, emphasising its modernist character. The slender, tapering legs are finished with subtle curves. The entire structure is ergonomic, refined, and extremely comfortable. The chair perfectly combines aesthetics with functionality, a hallmark of Kristiansen's designs. From every perspective, this piece of furniture maintains a balance between sculptural form and utilitarian function. The chair is in good vintage condition. It has minor signs of age, scrapes on the wood. The upholstery has been restored. The seat height is 43 cm. The colours of the products shown in the photos may differ slightly from the actual ones. This is due to individual monitor settings and lighting conditions – the photos were taken in artificial light, which may affect the perception of colours. However, we strive to ensure that the photos reflect the actual appearance of the product as faithfully as possible. The offer may include photos of the item in the living space, but these are for illustrative purposes only.
