Modernist office – Azzano Frères – designed by Jacques Hitier – Oak, glass and felt

Desk designed and published by the Azzano Brothers in 1956, often attributed to Jacques Hitier — one of the masters of French modernist furniture from the reconstruction period. Its silhouette immediately reveals the era: a black lacquered hairpin leg that gives it the characteristic airy lightness of the 1950s, a suspended drawer unit with a simply profiled design, and a metal wire bookshelf niche at the back — intended to be displayed in the centre of a room rather than against a wall. The top is made of glass, replaced with a new one during restoration. The structure is made of solid oak and veneer, the metal legs have been repainted, and the wood has been revarnished.
