19th-century French crystal table lamp

Beautiful antique French table lamp in crystal, chandelier style. At the end of the 19th century, these floor lamps had candles and were often used on pianos. It is even thought that music was written in "parts" so that pianists could change the candles! Girandoles were also placed next to gaming tables and in entrance halls — anywhere a lower light was desired. They were later converted into electric lamps. The wealthiest merchant family during the time of Louis XIV was the Trudon family (which still exists today). They had the exclusive right to sell candles at the court of Versailles. Dimensions: H 74.5 cm X D 40 cm. Provenance: France. Period: Late 19th Century, ca. 1880. Condition: Electricity has been checked, with European plug. In good working condition.
