Jug melon in yellow and green majolica

Large enamelled barbotine jug, featuring one of the most cheerful designs in vintage ceramics: the melon. The ribbed body is covered in a particularly bright sunny yellow, accented with deep green lines that highlight each segment. The large rounded handle echoes this contrast, while the wide, beautifully wavy spout adds a lot of movement to the silhouette. An unmarked vintage model. This yellow and green melon jug shape is a classic of barbotine, notably produced by various French manufacturers throughout the 20th century. In good vintage condition, with minimal signs of use and small irregularities at the spout (see photos). Handle length to spout 22 cm, height 17 cm, widest diameter 13 cm, estimated capacity 1.2 l. A bright yellow, a few green lines, and all the whimsy of vintage barbotine.
