Clairefontaine Indiana Iron Earth Plate

Indiana model dish from the Clairefontaine house from the second half of the 19th century. This large, octagonal dish is decorated with the famous baroque flowers designed by the 18th century ornamentalist Jean Pillement. The Clairefontaine earthenware factory was awarded a prize at the 1878 Universal Exhibition in Paris for its collection of majolica enamel items and the octagonal Indiana tableware service. This is a rare piece! The service is marked with a marine anchor and "rs" for Rigal and Sanejouand (managed 1860-1885). Note: a crack + a chip on one edge and a barely visible chip underneath.
