We are delighted to offer this exceptionally rare and original Howard & Son's Portarlington sofa from circa 1910-1920, a three-seater with padded armrests and cushions filled with feathers and fibres. It is undoubtedly the most comfortable sofa in the world: the armrests, backrest, and base are all filled with feathers and fibres, allowing you to sink in like a very thick duvet. The fibre core helps maintain its shape better than feathers alone. Howard & Sons are the finest sofa and armchair manufacturers in history, and the Queen even has a private collection. The condition is nearly the best example in the world today; the upholstery is undamaged, with a small nearly invisible nick on the fabric near the left arm, otherwise there are no marks or stains. The base cover is made of hessian secured by hand with nails, and the sofa has external twin support beams beneath the cover.
