Very beautiful and rare modernist vase inspired by brutalism from around 1960. The so-called "Ikebana" vase (intended for Japanese floral art) by the famous Dutch ceramist Pieter Groenveldt, bearing model number 495 under the base, made in his workshop in Voorschotten. Made of clay, it features an asymmetrical shape with a chimney neck, stamped work on the sides, as well as drips and variations in thickness of the purple glaze on anthracite, signatures of the artist. Width 19 cm, depth 13 cm, and height 14 cm. In perfect condition with no cracks, chips, or scratches, this original vase, completely in line with current natural trends, can hold flowers but will also stand alone as a pure decorative object.
