T1 stool by Verner Panton for Plus Linje, 1960s Denmark. Part of Panton’s well-known Wire Series, the stool features a cylindrical frame constructed from slender black metal rods, forming an open geometric structure. The round seat has been professionally reupholstered in dark green mohair, providing a subtle contrast to the black metal frame. Verner Panton (1926–1998) was one of Denmark’s most influential designers, known for his experimental approach to furniture, lighting and interior design. Unlike many of his Scandinavian contemporaries, Panton frequently explored unconventional materials, geometric shapes and industrial production techniques. The Wire Series reflects this approach, using a minimal metal framework to create functional furniture with a distinctive architectural appearance. The combination of the original black wire construction and the newly upholstered mohair seat makes this T1 stool a characteristic example of Danish design from the 1960s.
