Willem de Vries (1908-1969) Modern bowl with lid 'Cleopatra' for Fris Edam, mid-century. Holland, 1961. This is a very special piece of mid-century Dutch ceramics. Designed by Willem de Vries, the chief designer of the Fris pottery workshop in Edam, Holland. Fris pieces were very influential for post-war Dutch ceramics and are therefore still highly sought after. This bowl is very delicate and elegant. Thanks to the discreet and simple decoration, this lidded bowl stands out particularly. The overall shape of the bowl and the way the lid fits onto the base are also very elegant. Overall, a very stylish addition to a collection of mid-century modern ceramics or for a very stylish breakfast or lunch table. Excellent vintage condition with no flaws. Signed Fris Edam on the base.
