Exceptional: scholz cardboard box, with flaps and glass doors!

Magnificent creation from the legendary brand SCHOLZ, specialising in office furniture, this notary's desk combines a glass-fronted bookcase in the centre and two remarkable flap columns on the sides. All in blonde mahogany and of quite extraordinary quality. A superb piece that combines the functionality of a professional piece of furniture with classic aesthetics (early 20th century). "The SCHOLZ house, founded in 1872, a regular supplier to banks, large administrations, and railway companies..." proclaims a period advertisement, before adding: "the importance of our productions allows us to ensure you any urgent installation (...) at advantageous prices and with a guarantee." The photo of their shop, located as indicated by the three stamps on the back of our piece, at 75 rue St Lazaire in Paris, is magical! Glass front, charmingly outdated characters, and a display of furniture to make one dream... High-end finishes: sumptuous moulded cornice, turned feet, and leather covering on the flaps, the rounded plinth locks (which, when pivoted, prevent the opening of the flaps) are original and equipped with their original locks. An original key operates the two locks. As for the flaps, they close with a small "click" generated by the brass spring mechanism, which is located not on the top as usual but on the side of the door. We are in full luxury at every turn. The glass doors open with an original double-point lock with a key on 4 original shelves mounted on rack and pinion (thus adjustable). The sides are flat and in superb condition. A little gem. A few rare signs of wear without impact, and some marks on the leather of a few facades, around the pull buttons. It is noted that one of the buttons has been replaced.
