Pair of vintage chairs in chrome steel and rattan, Italy, 1970s

A sculptural pair of Italian chairs from the 1970s, in the spirit of Giotto Stoppino. Curved tubes of chrome steel form backrest, frame, and legs in a single flowing motion. The round seat and semi-circular backrest are in black lacquered wood and woven with Viennese straw (paglia di Vienna) and rattan. The interplay of glossy chrome, deep black, and warm straw gives these chairs an architectural appearance. Good vintage condition with light signs of use in keeping with age and use: small marks on the lacquer, light oxidation on the chrome, and naturally discolored straw. The weaving is intact.
