Art Deco vase by Charles Catteau for Boch Frères Keramis, decor D.1847,

Ovoid vase with flared neck, decor D.1847 designed by Charles Catteau for the Boch Frères Keramis factory in La Louvière. A beautiful example of Belgian Art Deco at its peak. The stylised floral decoration covers the entire body against a water green background. Large cream flowers with scale-like centres, olive green and black-brown lanceolate leaves, circular patterns, and a fan-shaped flower with coppery swirls respond to each other. Each motif is outlined with a raised enamel line, according to the thick cloisonné enamel technique unique to Keramis, which gives the decoration its relief and depth. The neck and base, in matte black-brown, are adorned with rays and stylised points that frame the composition. The vase works from all angles: flowers on one side, graphic rhythm of leaves on the other. A striking piece for both Art Deco and contemporary interiors. Marking.
