This low chest is made of light wood. Fittings evoke the ornaments of samurai armor. Work meiji period second half xixth. This chest combines power and stripping and discreet oriental influence. The craftsman sought the balance of materials, combining wood and metal. The warmth of the wood and the understated elegance of the metal are greeted in turn, in a beautiful balance. Condition: oxidation of the fittings - the lock does not work - the flaps only close held back by a small latch of wood formerly added. Shocks - wear - the bottom boards are disjointed in places - two have been refixed. It was slightly waxed (colorless wax).
