Antique Chinese buffet with original polychrome – Shanxi Province, 20th century. Magnificent antique Chinese buffet made of solid wood, originating from Shanxi Province, dated to the 20th century, notable for the richness and preservation of its original polychrome, visible on the front as well as on the sides, a rare detail that enhances its decorative appeal. The front consists of four fully opening doors, providing total access to the interior of the piece across its entire width. This complete opening, designed for daily use, allows for ample storage capacity and a clear view of the interior space. The panels are adorned with painted figurative decorations representing traditional architectures and landscapes, treated in a deep palette of reds, browns, and blacks. Time has gently softened the colours, revealing the different layers of lacquer and giving the piece a remarkable visual depth.
