An absolute rarity on the french design market a little-known icon of late 1990s french design, the “triple-leg” console encapsulates the minimalist and organic aesthetic of pascal mourgue (1943-2014), a major designer discovered by ligne roset and then cinna before being approached by roche bobois for a handful of short-run pieces. Among them, this hall cabinet, now unobtainable, is distinguished by a very unusual design: three ogival uprights in densified and turned solid beech, with a mahogany satin varnish finish, support two stacked tops in 10 mm extra-clear tempered glass, with polished and subtly beveled edges, guaranteeing a load resistance of approximately 40 kg distributed. The triangular base frees up space at the back, thus facilitating the circulation of cables or leaning against a wall without visual impact. This bold choice, coupled with the warmth of the mahogany-stained wood, brings this piece closer to mid-century italian research (parisi, ponti), while anchoring it in the swarm of objects specific to french design at the turn of the millennium. Finally, the hardware, reduced to a minimum to preserve the purity of the design, allows for easy and complete disassembly/reassembly - a practical detail not to be overlooked, highlighted by roche bobois in its period notices. The example offered here is in remarkable condition: homogeneous varnish without cracks, tops free of deep scratches, original glides intact. Its studied proportions allow for easy integration: vestibule, executive office or art gallery, its dimensions ideal for displaying sculpture, lighting or monumental vase. -- dimensions (cm): 85 (h) X 130 (w) X 45 (d). Origin & period: france, c. 2000 excellent original condition.
