This neoclassical-style fire set in bronze and brass, both large and richly crafted, stands out for the exceptional quality of its decoration and the elaborateness of its composition. Each of the five accessory handles — as well as the central support rod — is topped with a pierced bronze ball, crowned with a pointed finial, giving the top of the ensemble an imposing and precious presence. The rods themselves are finely decorated and joined at mid-height by a decorative crossed support of Gothic inspiration, which serves both as a structural support and a formal element linking the composition. The set includes a poker, a flat-bladed shovel, a brush, and a pair of tongs, all with an exceptional length of 70 cm and entirely homogeneous quality. The base is a tiered square pedestal, its surfaces worked with chiselled geometric patterns that echo the refined decorative vocabulary of the handles. The combination of cast bronze and polished brass — two materials of contrasting colour and texture — was a characteristic of high-quality French decorative ironwork from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when artisans freely drew from the repertoire of historical styles. Dated around 1930, this fire set represents the finest production of a French workshop, combining technical virtuosity with assured mastery of historical ornamentation.
