Cantilever Steel Armchairs K108 (S411) by Kovona, 1940-50s

This variation of the popular cantilever armchair S411 was produced under the license from Thonet (model K411, cf. Photo) as a model K108. The licensed models of the S411, which was very popular for a long time, retained the overall impression of the chair, but differed in some respects from the K411. The differences for the actual model are: 1. The wooden frame is reinforced with massive metal plates, especially suitable to bear the extra weight. 2. The height is substantially greater (+11 cm), as well as seat height – +7 cm, the width is somewhat narrower than of original S411. This makes this variation “sportier” and more robust than a standard model. Authentically and professionally restored. The tubular steel frame is preserved in original state, gently cleaned and polished. The only patina on the back side tube is by no means disturbing but only articulating the charming of the time. The wooden frame rebuilt with reinforcement plates. Wood cleaned, varnished. Seating refurbished and covered with the design Art Deco upholstery by Kolovrat.
