Superb antique guéridon in blackened wood, richly carved, probably dating from the late 19th century / early 20th century, in the style of Indo-colonial Orientalist furniture intended for export to Europe. This piece features very decorative artisanal carving with floral motifs and zoomorphic carved legs, characteristic of Indo-colonial productions from the late 19th century. The furniture is particularly elegant thanks to its two original natural marble tops: _ upper octagonal top in veined marble. _ lower shelf also in marble. Old marbles with natural veining and beautiful patina. The structure is made of solid blackened wood, with deep carving done in the mass. The joints and construction testify to artisanal craftsmanship. This type of guéridon was often used as a side table in bourgeois salons or as a decorative support for lamps, plants, or collectibles. Very good overall condition for its age. Stable and solid structure despite minor movement in the woodwork. The marble tops feature beautiful natural veining. Some signs of use and slight patina consistent with the age of the furniture. Summary of characteristics: Period: late 19th – early 20th century. Style: Orientalist / Indo-colonial. Materials: carved blackened wood and natural marble. Particularity: double marble top and 5 legs. Artisanal craftsmanship.
