Victorian Antique Bacon Bench in Carved Walnut by Hampton & Sons

We are delighted to offer for sale this splendid Bacon Settle bench by Hampton & Son's of London, hand-carved from solid English walnut and oak. This museum-quality piece is an exceptional example of this type of bench. It is extra large, disassembles into two pieces for easy transport and installation. The armrests feature dog heads, with side and central panels adorned with climbing vine motifs, central panels with Jacobean-style carvings, and base fronts with Shakespearean heads and floral details. It contains two cupboards behind the backrest with storage for coats and umbrellas, and an original zinc drip tray. The seats lift to provide ample shoe storage. The piece is signed by Hampton & Son's with order number 4552. The condition is good, with a pleasant period patina; a light cleaning and hand waxing have been carried out.
