Large Vallauris fat lava polychrome vase – signed ceramic, circa 1960

Important flared vase in glazed ceramic, a characteristic production of the workshops in Vallauris. The object features a poly-lobed mouth and an expressionist decoration of flowing glazes ("fat lava"): against a dark and deep brown background, thick drips of white, bright pink, green, and turquoise blue glaze create a very dynamic relief and contrast effect. The mark "VALLAURIS" is incised under the base, accompanied by a partially legible workshop signature. Characteristics: Dating: circa 1960. Style: Mid-Century Modern / Vallauris. The glaze has retained all its shine and depth. No cracks or restorations detected. Presence of slight original firing and glazing irregularities, inherent to this artisanal technique. Minor wear under the base. A remarkable piece due to the freshness of its colours, particularly the intense pink highly sought after by collectors of ceramics from the 50s-60s. The "sea foam" appearance of the white glazes adds a rich and organic texture.
