Ancient crucifix, silver-plated baptismal font from Naples, 19th century.

This object is an antique wall crucifix/baby from the 19th century, made of unidentified Neapolitan silver hallmarks. The central cross is made of veneered wood (or dyed black to imitate ebony). The body of Christ, the upper scroll bearing the inscription "INRI", the ornaments at the ends of the cross (chants), the radiant sun, and the lower holy water font are made of repoussé and cast silver. Beneath the feet of Jesus is the classic symbol of the skull and crossed bones, representing Golgotha (place of the skull) and Christ's victory over death. H 33 cm - W 21 cm.
